Day 47: Celebrating Milestones and Embracing Nourishment

A Day of Love and Celebration

Today, as I turned 49, was a day filled with warmth, love, and the simple joys that make life so rich. My son's gesture of baking cupcakes for my birthday was a heartwarming surprise, a testament to the thoughtful and caring relationships that I'm fortunate to have. Opting to order in Swiss Chalet for dinner added a cozy and familiar comfort to the celebrations, making my birthday not just special but also deliciously memorable. The flood of messages from friends and family was a beautiful reminder of the network of support and love that surrounds me, reinforcing the feeling of gratitude as I went to bed cherished and loved.

Without a doubt, my new water bottle that was a gift from my son, is my favourite thing this year. I was struggling to find a water bottle in our collection that was working on my treadmill and this one from Stanley is perfect! No, it's not the giant Stanley water cup, it is a smaller cup that holds 22oz.

Why Drinking More Water Could Be the Game Changer for Your Health!

Nutritional Planning and Preparation

Today's lesson on planning and prepping to ensure adequate protein intake over the next few days was timely. It's a crucial aspect of maintaining the nutritional habits we've been building, especially with the recent focus on incorporating more protein into every meal. The examples provided offer practical strategies for staying on track, even amidst the busy and unpredictable flow of daily life. This guidance is invaluable for making healthful eating both manageable and sustainable. I felt like I was ahead of the game here, with my sous vide chicken breasts because I will always be able to grab some of those from the freezer.

Weekly Highlights from the Coaches

I really appreciate the coaches taking the time to not only focus on a couple of key points from the weekly lessons but that they add in things like recipes that they feel will support the nutrition goals for the program for us to try, helpful videos and more. This is very helpful if someone was to miss a lesson or the week and still get the main goals of the week without feeling overwhelmed by looking at 7 days of information.

Recipe of the week - Simple Braised French Lentils

A steaming bowl of hearty lentil soup is featured prominently on a rustic wooden table, garnished with sprigs of fresh thyme. The warm light casts a soft glow, accentuating the rich, earthy tones of the lentils and creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere. In the background, a loaf of crusty bread and a whole onion add to the composition, suggesting a wholesome, home-cooked meal. The visible steam rising from the bowl indicates the soup's warmth and readiness to be enjoyed.

Personalized Support from Coaches

The unexpected personal check-in from one of my coaches, inquiring about comments I had made in my lessons, was a touching and appreciated gesture. It's reassuring to know that the support system within this program isn't just reactive but also proactive, reaching out to offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear. This personalized attention adds a layer of depth to the program, making the journey feel more tailored and supported as it can be easy to not have that with online programs.

Expanding Meditation Practices

Continuing with the guided meditation walking, today's session introduced an intriguing expansion: peripheral observations. This addition challenges us to become more aware of our surroundings and ourselves, even in a stationary setting like the treadmill. The exercises, such as checking if I can see my feet or arms while looking ahead, are fascinating explorations of how stress levels can affect our perception and awareness. It's a subtle yet profound way to gauge relaxation and mindfulness, adding another dimension to the walking meditation practice. I have found myself doing these things when I'm not in a specific meditation session as well, which always gives me a little bit of my best friend to myself voice saying, see things are happening all the time, not just in those structured moments.

Reflections on Growth and Gratitude

Day 47 has been a day of celebration, not just of another year of life but of the journey I'm on. The blend of personal milestones with the ongoing exploration of health and wellness underscores the holistic nature of this journey. It's about nurturing the body, yes, but also about cherishing the heart and mind, fostering connections, and appreciating the moments of support and growth along the way. As I reflect on the day, I'm filled with gratitude for the lessons learned, the love received, and the path ahead. Here's to embracing the coming year with open arms, a nourished body, and a peaceful mind.

Day 24: Valentine's Reflections and Embracing Every Moment

Welcome back, followers of well-being! A Surprising Lesson on Binge Eating Valentine's Day brought with it an unexpected lesson from the program, focusing on the concept of binge eating. The lesson didn't delve into definitions but rather suggested an intriguing approach: if binge eating occurs, do it slowly and without any guilt. For those who don't experience binge eating, the guidance was to maintain the practice of eating slowly throughout the day. This perspective offers a unique lens on mindfulness and self-compassion, encouraging us to be present and intentional with our eating habits, regardless of the situation. The Continual Growth Through Meditation Today's workout seamlessly blended meditation with walking, a combination that has become a cherished part of my routine. The guided meditations, each building upon the last one, have become a source of solace and anticipation. Their evolving nature keeps me engaged and hopeful that they'll remain a cornerston...

Day 27: Braving the Cold and Envisioning the Future

A Chilly Start to the Day Today's active recovery day took us back to the familiar yet frosty surroundings of the lake, with temperatures dipping to -15°C. Despite bundling up, the biting wind made our 20-minute walk more challenging than usual. The vast openness of the lake's paths and parks, usually a source of tranquility, today amplified the cold. To compensate for the lack of zone minutes on my Fibtbit, I added a 25-minute rowing session on my Bowflex Revolution in the afternoon, following a snow shoveling session under the watchful eye of my dog. Our day concluded with another walk after dinner, maintaining our routine despite the cold. Active recovery decoded and why you need it. Looking Ahead: The Maintenance Phase Today's lesson shifted our focus to the future, specifically the maintenance phase post-program. It outlined the gradual build-up of habits that will eventually become second nature, requiring no conscious effort to maintain. The lesson encouraged us to e...

Day 5 of Precision Nutrition Coaching: Transforming Desires into Actions

Welcome back, to all my readers! Today marked the fifth day of my journey with the Precision Nutrition (PN) Coaching program and like each day before, it was truly educational. The central theme of today's lesson was about transforming our "I don't wants" into "I do wants," a powerful shift in mindset that propels us from passive wishing to active doing. Flipping the Script: From "Don't" to "Do" It's easy to get caught in the trap of saying things like, "I don't want to be out of shape." However, this approach is often unproductive. Today's lesson taught me to reframe these thoughts into positive affirmations. Instead of focusing on what I don't want, I'm learning to focus on what I do want, like being in better shape. This simple flip in wording makes a significant difference in how I approach my goals. Vision Boards and Letters to the Future The course also introduced some creative tools to visualize an...
