Day 89: Comprehensive Measurement Day and Active Recovery

Measuring Progress Today marks another significant measurement day in my journey, where I took full advantage of assessing my progress through photos, girth measurements, and the scale. Although my rings still don't fit—a change I anticipate as I continue to lose weight—I've shed a total of 10.7 lbs and an impressive 37.5 cm total girth, with over 10 cm each from my waist and hips. We measure neck, shoulders, chest, waist, hips, upper arm, thigh and calf. This visual and numeric transformation underscores the value of comprehensive tracking beyond just the scale. I use a smart tape measure for accuracy, especially for hard-to-reach areas like my shoulders. Health Benefits to Shrinking my Waist Shrinking the waistline is important not just for aesthetic reasons (although that is what we see) but for health benefits as well. A smaller waist can significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and other metabolic syndromes. Reducing waist circumference he...

Day 76: Milestones, Learning, and Personal Reflections

Celebrating Progress: 10 Pounds Lighter Today marks a significant milestone in my journey, as I've officially lost 10 pounds since beginning this program. While my rings still don't fit, I feel like I could have gotten my engagement ring over the knuckle today but likely that's it so stopped pressing as I didn't want to get it stuck. This is a reminder of the long road ahead but that first 10 lbs lost is still a wonderful achievement is a testament to the dedication and effort I've put into improving my health and fitness. The absence of a specific weight at which my rings fit doesn't dampen the joy of this accomplishment; instead, it motivates me to continue working toward my goals. Fitting Into New Clothes: A Tangible Reward An active recovery day spent at the lake under the sunny 10°C weather was made even more special with a personal victory: fitting into a size large pair of track pants from Eddie Bauer. This was a significant moment, as it meant moving dow...

Day 62: Celebrating Progress and Reflective Measurements

Embracing Measurement Day Today marks another significant milestone in my journey with Precision Nutrition my third "full" measurement day which includes weight, girths and photos that I upload into the portal. I've adopted a strategic approach to tracking my progress, choosing to record girth measurements once a month to acknowledge that true change requires time.  This morning, I was thrilled to discover I've lost over 20 cm across various parts of my body, including my neck, arm, shoulder, chest, waist, hips, thigh, and calf since measuring the first time two months ago. Witnessing the aggregate change was incredibly motivating.  Additionally, I've seen a reduction of 7.5lbs since the start of the program. This gradual weight loss aligns with my belief in the sustainability of slow, steady progress over rapid, less manageable changes. I feel like this pace is sustainable for me and don't feel like I am restricting myself in any way in terms of food choices....

Day 48: Reflecting on Progress and Embracing the Journey

Celebrating Milestones and Adjustments Today marks a significant checkpoint in my journey—a progress day dedicated to acknowledging the changes and achievements made thus far. At 49 years young, having recently celebrated my birthday with love and support from family and friends, I find myself reflecting on the progress I've made, both physically and emotionally.  The decision to monitor my progress through changes in how my rings fit, rather than solely relying on the scale, has introduced a nuanced perspective on weight loss and body changes for me that I didn't have before. Noticing my wedding ring fitting a bit looser is a subtle yet affirming sign of the progress I've made, complementing the 6 pounds I've lost since embarking on this journey. It's sometimes hard to explain to people that I am not focused on the scale as much as the holistic wellness because the only thing people can see is my size. Nutritional Habits and Their Impact This week's focus on en...
