About Me

Hello and welcome to my space! I'm a 49-year-old wellness enthusiast, living a life filled with love, learning, and the little joys of everyday moments in the beautiful expanse of Canada. Married to my incredible husband and a proud parent to a university-going child, our home is a bustling hub of warmth, shared with our two cats, a loyal dog, and the cherished presence of my mother.

By profession, I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), dedicating my days to supporting mothers across the globe on their breastfeeding journeys. The fulfillment I find in this role is immeasurable, as each day brings new stories of resilience, love, and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her child. I passed my first exam with IBCLE in 2011 and have been recertified by CERPs and then another exam since that time. I'm happy that they have change this to CERPs being an option to recertify next time as don't love exams.

In January 2024, amidst the quiet introspection and the loud chaos of life, I embarked on a new journey of personal growth and wellness. After thorough research and contemplation, I joined the Precision Nutrition for Women program. My choice was influenced by the program's holistic approach to health and wellness, which resonates deeply with my own beliefs. Precision Nutrition stood out with its evidence-based success, comprehensive strategies encompassing guided meditation, mindfulness, and custom exercises tailored to individual needs, and a flexible approach to nutrition that encourages personal choice within a structured framework.

This blog is a canvas for my experiences, learnings, and reflections as I navigate through the Precision Nutrition program and beyond. It's about more than just nutrition and exercise; it's a journey towards holistic wellness, embracing both the mind and body. Here, I'll share insights from my daily life, the challenges and triumphs of integrating a wellness program into a busy life, my attempts at gardening at home, delicious recipes that align with the program's philosophy, and moments of mindfulness and meditation that have illuminated my path.

My hope is that this blog serves as a source of inspiration, information, and support for anyone looking to embark on their own journey of holistic wellness. Whether you're a mother navigating the complexities of parenting, someone looking to make healthier lifestyle choices, or simply curious about incorporating mindfulness and nutrition into your life, you'll find a friend and ally in me.

My Ongoing Health Challenges

In the midst of  life's responsibilities and joys, my journey has also been shaped by personal health challenges. I live with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), conditions that have profoundly impacted my approach to health and wellness. Just over a year ago, my journey took an unexpected turn when I required emergency gallbladder surgery. This experience was a stark reminder of the delicate balance of health and the importance of nurturing our bodies with care and understanding and what prompted me to start looking for a holistic wellness program.

More about My PCOS Journey

These health challenges have not only deepened my empathy for others facing similar struggles but have also propelled me on a quest for holistic wellness that honors the complex needs of my body. They've taught me the importance of listening to my body's signals, advocating for my health, and seeking out holistic and integrative approaches to wellness.

My experiences with PCOS, IBS, and the aftermath of my gallbladder surgery have significantly influenced my approach to the Precision Nutrition program. I've become more attuned to the nuances of nutrition and how different foods can affect our bodies in unique ways. This program's emphasis on mindfulness, custom exercises, and a flexible approach to eating has been instrumental in helping me navigate my health issues with grace and resilience.

My IBS and sleep both are getting better because of hydration!

Through this blog, I aim to share not just the highs of my wellness journey, but also the challenges and how I've adapted to meet my body's needs. It's my hope that by sharing my story, I can offer support and understanding to others navigating their own health challenges, fostering a community where we can all grow stronger together.

Join me as I explore the depths of wellness, sharing the lessons, resources, gardening tips, recipes and thing I've learned and the beauty discovered along the way. Let's embrace this journey together, with open hearts and minds, ready to transform our lives from the inside out.

Day 24: Valentine's Reflections and Embracing Every Moment

Welcome back, followers of well-being! A Surprising Lesson on Binge Eating Valentine's Day brought with it an unexpected lesson from the program, focusing on the concept of binge eating. The lesson didn't delve into definitions but rather suggested an intriguing approach: if binge eating occurs, do it slowly and without any guilt. For those who don't experience binge eating, the guidance was to maintain the practice of eating slowly throughout the day. This perspective offers a unique lens on mindfulness and self-compassion, encouraging us to be present and intentional with our eating habits, regardless of the situation. The Continual Growth Through Meditation Today's workout seamlessly blended meditation with walking, a combination that has become a cherished part of my routine. The guided meditations, each building upon the last one, have become a source of solace and anticipation. Their evolving nature keeps me engaged and hopeful that they'll remain a cornerston...

Day 27: Braving the Cold and Envisioning the Future

A Chilly Start to the Day Today's active recovery day took us back to the familiar yet frosty surroundings of the lake, with temperatures dipping to -15°C. Despite bundling up, the biting wind made our 20-minute walk more challenging than usual. The vast openness of the lake's paths and parks, usually a source of tranquility, today amplified the cold. To compensate for the lack of zone minutes on my Fibtbit, I added a 25-minute rowing session on my Bowflex Revolution in the afternoon, following a snow shoveling session under the watchful eye of my dog. Our day concluded with another walk after dinner, maintaining our routine despite the cold. Active recovery decoded and why you need it. Looking Ahead: The Maintenance Phase Today's lesson shifted our focus to the future, specifically the maintenance phase post-program. It outlined the gradual build-up of habits that will eventually become second nature, requiring no conscious effort to maintain. The lesson encouraged us to e...

Day 5 of Precision Nutrition Coaching: Transforming Desires into Actions

Welcome back, to all my readers! Today marked the fifth day of my journey with the Precision Nutrition (PN) Coaching program and like each day before, it was truly educational. The central theme of today's lesson was about transforming our "I don't wants" into "I do wants," a powerful shift in mindset that propels us from passive wishing to active doing. Flipping the Script: From "Don't" to "Do" It's easy to get caught in the trap of saying things like, "I don't want to be out of shape." However, this approach is often unproductive. Today's lesson taught me to reframe these thoughts into positive affirmations. Instead of focusing on what I don't want, I'm learning to focus on what I do want, like being in better shape. This simple flip in wording makes a significant difference in how I approach my goals. Vision Boards and Letters to the Future The course also introduced some creative tools to visualize an...
