Day 62: Celebrating Progress and Reflective Measurements

Embracing Measurement Day

Today marks another significant milestone in my journey with Precision Nutrition my third "full" measurement day which includes weight, girths and photos that I upload into the portal. I've adopted a strategic approach to tracking my progress, choosing to record girth measurements once a month to acknowledge that true change requires time.

This morning, I was thrilled to discover I've lost over 20 cm across various parts of my body, including my neck, arm, shoulder, chest, waist, hips, thigh, and calf since measuring the first time two months ago. Witnessing the aggregate change was incredibly motivating.

Additionally, I've seen a reduction of 7.5lbs since the start of the program. This gradual weight loss aligns with my belief in the sustainability of slow, steady progress over rapid, less manageable changes. I feel like this pace is sustainable for me and don't feel like I am restricting myself in any way in terms of food choices.

Beyond Physical Measurements

My measurements aren't limited to the physical; I'm also tracking improvements in sleep quality and emotional regulation.

Sleep

There's been a noticeable improvement in my sleep, both qualitatively and quantitatively. My Fitbit sleep score consistently shows enhancements, underscoring the positive impact of the program's lifestyle changes on my rest. I also feel like when I wake up, I am not tired, I feel like I have had a good rest.

Emotional Regulation

Perhaps the most unexpected yet rewarding aspect has been my enhanced emotional well-being. I find myself calmer and more content, with a diminished inclination to resort to junk food during moments of stress. The program's encouragement of kitchen makeovers has naturally limited my access to unhealthy snacks, while adopting the practice of making tea and reflecting during tense moments has proved to be an effective coping mechanism. This shift is likely a direct result of the guided walking meditation sessions, which have fostered a greater sense of mindfulness and emotional balance.

Jewelry Fit

While the fit of my rings isn't a primary focus of my measurements, I've noticed my wedding band fits more loosely at times and I am able to spin it around and move it slightly up and down. This subtle change fuels my hope that I will soon be able to comfortably wear my engagement ring and wedding band together again.

Active Recovery Foam Rolling and Walking at the Lake

I woke up with a bit of stiffness in my lower back and hip today, not sure why but after a 10 minute foam rolling session, that was completely gone. Today at the lake there were a lot of families and while that is fantastic to see everyone out, it was a bit overwhelming for our dog today so we didn't stay as long as I had hoped. Still managed to get in three walks around the neighbourhood so lots of walking time together.

Reflection: The Holistic Nature of Health and Wellness

Today's measurement day has been a testament to the multifaceted nature of health and wellness. The program's holistic approach has not only facilitated physical changes but also significantly improved my sleep quality and emotional well-being. These interconnected aspects of health reinforce the idea that true wellness extends far beyond the physical realm, encompassing our mental, emotional, and even spiritual states.

My journey so far has been enriching and enlightening, providing me with tools and practices to nurture my health in a comprehensive manner. As I celebrate today's milestones, I'm reminded of the importance of patience, persistence, and the celebration of every step forward, no matter how small. These measurements, both physical and intangible, are valuable markers of progress, offering encouragement and motivation to continue on this path of growth and self-improvement.

Day 24: Valentine's Reflections and Embracing Every Moment

Welcome back, followers of well-being! A Surprising Lesson on Binge Eating Valentine's Day brought with it an unexpected lesson from the program, focusing on the concept of binge eating. The lesson didn't delve into definitions but rather suggested an intriguing approach: if binge eating occurs, do it slowly and without any guilt. For those who don't experience binge eating, the guidance was to maintain the practice of eating slowly throughout the day. This perspective offers a unique lens on mindfulness and self-compassion, encouraging us to be present and intentional with our eating habits, regardless of the situation. The Continual Growth Through Meditation Today's workout seamlessly blended meditation with walking, a combination that has become a cherished part of my routine. The guided meditations, each building upon the last one, have become a source of solace and anticipation. Their evolving nature keeps me engaged and hopeful that they'll remain a cornerston...

Day 27: Braving the Cold and Envisioning the Future

A Chilly Start to the Day Today's active recovery day took us back to the familiar yet frosty surroundings of the lake, with temperatures dipping to -15°C. Despite bundling up, the biting wind made our 20-minute walk more challenging than usual. The vast openness of the lake's paths and parks, usually a source of tranquility, today amplified the cold. To compensate for the lack of zone minutes on my Fibtbit, I added a 25-minute rowing session on my Bowflex Revolution in the afternoon, following a snow shoveling session under the watchful eye of my dog. Our day concluded with another walk after dinner, maintaining our routine despite the cold. Active recovery decoded and why you need it. Looking Ahead: The Maintenance Phase Today's lesson shifted our focus to the future, specifically the maintenance phase post-program. It outlined the gradual build-up of habits that will eventually become second nature, requiring no conscious effort to maintain. The lesson encouraged us to e...

Day 5 of Precision Nutrition Coaching: Transforming Desires into Actions

Welcome back, to all my readers! Today marked the fifth day of my journey with the Precision Nutrition (PN) Coaching program and like each day before, it was truly educational. The central theme of today's lesson was about transforming our "I don't wants" into "I do wants," a powerful shift in mindset that propels us from passive wishing to active doing. Flipping the Script: From "Don't" to "Do" It's easy to get caught in the trap of saying things like, "I don't want to be out of shape." However, this approach is often unproductive. Today's lesson taught me to reframe these thoughts into positive affirmations. Instead of focusing on what I don't want, I'm learning to focus on what I do want, like being in better shape. This simple flip in wording makes a significant difference in how I approach my goals. Vision Boards and Letters to the Future The course also introduced some creative tools to visualize an...
