Day 6: Embracing the Journey with Measurements and Mindful Movement

Hi again! Glad to see you back on the path to wellness!

Measurement Day #1: A New Beginning

Today marks a significant milestone in my Precision Nutrition journey - the first official Measurement Day. It's a bit nerve-wracking to think that every two weeks, I'll be stepping into this ritual of self-assessment, not just focusing on the scale but exploring a variety of metrics that paint a fuller picture of my progress. The anticipation of seeing tangible changes, however small, fuels my optimism and commitment to this transformative path.

The Power of Visual Progress: Photo Measurements

Admittedly, the idea of documenting my journey through photos didn't initially fill me with joy. Like many, I often find myself critiquing my own images more harshly than I should. Yet, understanding the value these visual markers hold, I've decided to embrace this aspect wholeheartedly. To add a layer of consistency and perhaps a bit of fun to this process, I've invested in identical workout outfits in three sizes - XL, L, and M from Eddie Bauer. Optimistic that I will get to a M size? Maybe but why not have that as a part of my vision board?

Today, I donned the XL set for the first series of front, back, and side photos, captured by my ever-supportive husband. While the top felt comfortable, the bottoms were snug, a reminder of the journey ahead but also of the stretchable nature of both the fabric and my own potential for change.

I'm not posting these photos here, they are being uploaded into the portal. Maybe in the future I will add them to my blog, maybe not.

A Personal Touch: The Significance of Rings

Among the various measurements, one holds a special place in my heart - the fit of my rings. The goal of slipping my engagement ring comfortably alongside my wedding band, which currently remains steadfast on my finger, symbolizes more than just a change in size. It represents a return to a cherished state of being, a personal milestone within this broader journey.

Choosing Movement That Moves You

The program's flexibility in daily exercise is something I deeply appreciate. Today, I opted for active recovery, a choice that led me and my companions - my loyal dog and son - to the regional forest for a 45-minute off leash trail hike. The icy trails could have deterred us, but equipped with Icer's on our boots, we navigated the slippery paths safely, a metaphor, perhaps, for the journey I'm on. Despite potential slips and slides, being prepared and cautious can help one move forward with confidence.

Reflections and Looking Ahead

As I reflect on today's experiences, from the tangible measurements to the intangible feelings of hope and determination, I'm reminded of the journey's essence. It's not just about the numbers or the images but about embracing change, celebrating small victories, and acknowledging the support systems that make this journey possible.

As I look forward to the coming weeks, I'm filled with a sense of purpose and curiosity. What changes will I see? How will my perceptions shift? One thing is certain: this journey is about more than just nutrition or fitness; it's about rediscovering oneself, step by measured step.

Stay tuned for more updates as I continue on this path, embracing each day with an open heart and a willing spirit.

Day 24: Valentine's Reflections and Embracing Every Moment

Welcome back, followers of well-being! A Surprising Lesson on Binge Eating Valentine's Day brought with it an unexpected lesson from the program, focusing on the concept of binge eating. The lesson didn't delve into definitions but rather suggested an intriguing approach: if binge eating occurs, do it slowly and without any guilt. For those who don't experience binge eating, the guidance was to maintain the practice of eating slowly throughout the day. This perspective offers a unique lens on mindfulness and self-compassion, encouraging us to be present and intentional with our eating habits, regardless of the situation. The Continual Growth Through Meditation Today's workout seamlessly blended meditation with walking, a combination that has become a cherished part of my routine. The guided meditations, each building upon the last one, have become a source of solace and anticipation. Their evolving nature keeps me engaged and hopeful that they'll remain a cornerston...

Day 27: Braving the Cold and Envisioning the Future

A Chilly Start to the Day Today's active recovery day took us back to the familiar yet frosty surroundings of the lake, with temperatures dipping to -15°C. Despite bundling up, the biting wind made our 20-minute walk more challenging than usual. The vast openness of the lake's paths and parks, usually a source of tranquility, today amplified the cold. To compensate for the lack of zone minutes on my Fibtbit, I added a 25-minute rowing session on my Bowflex Revolution in the afternoon, following a snow shoveling session under the watchful eye of my dog. Our day concluded with another walk after dinner, maintaining our routine despite the cold. Active recovery decoded and why you need it. Looking Ahead: The Maintenance Phase Today's lesson shifted our focus to the future, specifically the maintenance phase post-program. It outlined the gradual build-up of habits that will eventually become second nature, requiring no conscious effort to maintain. The lesson encouraged us to e...

Day 5 of Precision Nutrition Coaching: Transforming Desires into Actions

Welcome back, to all my readers! Today marked the fifth day of my journey with the Precision Nutrition (PN) Coaching program and like each day before, it was truly educational. The central theme of today's lesson was about transforming our "I don't wants" into "I do wants," a powerful shift in mindset that propels us from passive wishing to active doing. Flipping the Script: From "Don't" to "Do" It's easy to get caught in the trap of saying things like, "I don't want to be out of shape." However, this approach is often unproductive. Today's lesson taught me to reframe these thoughts into positive affirmations. Instead of focusing on what I don't want, I'm learning to focus on what I do want, like being in better shape. This simple flip in wording makes a significant difference in how I approach my goals. Vision Boards and Letters to the Future The course also introduced some creative tools to visualize an...
