Day 61: Treadmill Focus and Exploring Green Supplements

A person's hand is shown sprinkling a scoop of green powder into a blender that is filled with fresh spinach leaves and banana slices, suggesting the preparation of a healthy green smoothie. Surrounding the blender on the kitchen counter are ingredients typically used in smoothies, including whole bananas and an avocado cut in half revealing the pit. The kitchen setting is blurred in the background, focusing the viewer's attention on the vibrant colors and fresh ingredients in the foreground, highlighting a moment of healthy lifestyle choice.

Dedicated Treadmill Time

On this workout day, I reaffirmed my preference for guided meditation walks on the treadmill. This controlled environment allows me to fully immerse in the meditation, concentrating solely on myself and the guidance. While walking outside or even around the house with the dog, that is a distraction and we do that enough. I want this to be only me time, especially because I know that at some point this workout will expand in the program. As a bonus, utilizing the treadmill also presents the opportunity to seamlessly transition from a meditative state into a more vigorous workout, by increasing speed or incline, thereby maximizing my exercise time for both mindfulness and cardio benefits.

The day brought more snow, adding an unplanned yet welcomed physical activity to my routine of shoveling. Interestingly, shoveling snow now feels less strenuous, as indicated by the lack of cardio minutes recorded on my Fitbit compared to earlier in the winter before I started the program. This observation suggests an improvement in my physical fitness since starting the program.

Learning About Green Supplements

Today's lesson introduced green supplements and powdered veggies, offering insight into an area I have yet to explore personally. While the program continues to prioritize the consumption of whole fruits and vegetables, it acknowledges that green supplements can play a role in some people's diets, particularly in smoothies. This balanced perspective recognizes the diversity in dietary habits and preferences within our group. Although I'm currently focusing on integrating whole foods into my diet, understanding the options and potential benefits of green supplements adds valuable knowledge for future considerations.

Weekly Insights from Our Coaches

The bonus message from our coaches is, for me, a highlight of Fridays, providing a recap of the week with added resources that they share from around the internet and in their own personal videos they make for us. This week's message included links to missed videos from Zoom calls and introduced a shared recipe for Spezzatino, which promises to be a delightful culinary adventure. These communications not only reinforce the week's lessons but also enhance the sense of community and support within the program, offering additional ways to engage with the material and each other.

Reflection: Adaptation and Education in Wellness

Reaching day 61 on this journey, I appreciate the program's dual focus on physical activity and nutritional education. Today's experiences—from the targeted use of the treadmill for both meditation and my own goal of cardio to learning about green supplements—highlight the program's comprehensive approach to wellness. It offers a blend of exercise, dietary education, and community support that encourages personal growth and health improvements.

The lesson on green supplements, in particular, underscores the importance of being informed about various dietary options, allowing for informed choices that align with individual wellness goals. As I continue to prioritize whole foods, the knowledge gained today provides a broader understanding of nutritional supplements, ensuring that my dietary decisions are made from an informed position.

The ongoing support and insights from our coaches, coupled with the shared experiences of the group, enrich this journey, making it not just about personal achievements but also about being part of a community committed to wellness and healthy living.

Day 24: Valentine's Reflections and Embracing Every Moment

Welcome back, followers of well-being! A Surprising Lesson on Binge Eating Valentine's Day brought with it an unexpected lesson from the program, focusing on the concept of binge eating. The lesson didn't delve into definitions but rather suggested an intriguing approach: if binge eating occurs, do it slowly and without any guilt. For those who don't experience binge eating, the guidance was to maintain the practice of eating slowly throughout the day. This perspective offers a unique lens on mindfulness and self-compassion, encouraging us to be present and intentional with our eating habits, regardless of the situation. The Continual Growth Through Meditation Today's workout seamlessly blended meditation with walking, a combination that has become a cherished part of my routine. The guided meditations, each building upon the last one, have become a source of solace and anticipation. Their evolving nature keeps me engaged and hopeful that they'll remain a cornerston...

Day 27: Braving the Cold and Envisioning the Future

A Chilly Start to the Day Today's active recovery day took us back to the familiar yet frosty surroundings of the lake, with temperatures dipping to -15°C. Despite bundling up, the biting wind made our 20-minute walk more challenging than usual. The vast openness of the lake's paths and parks, usually a source of tranquility, today amplified the cold. To compensate for the lack of zone minutes on my Fibtbit, I added a 25-minute rowing session on my Bowflex Revolution in the afternoon, following a snow shoveling session under the watchful eye of my dog. Our day concluded with another walk after dinner, maintaining our routine despite the cold. Active recovery decoded and why you need it. Looking Ahead: The Maintenance Phase Today's lesson shifted our focus to the future, specifically the maintenance phase post-program. It outlined the gradual build-up of habits that will eventually become second nature, requiring no conscious effort to maintain. The lesson encouraged us to e...

Day 5 of Precision Nutrition Coaching: Transforming Desires into Actions

Welcome back, to all my readers! Today marked the fifth day of my journey with the Precision Nutrition (PN) Coaching program and like each day before, it was truly educational. The central theme of today's lesson was about transforming our "I don't wants" into "I do wants," a powerful shift in mindset that propels us from passive wishing to active doing. Flipping the Script: From "Don't" to "Do" It's easy to get caught in the trap of saying things like, "I don't want to be out of shape." However, this approach is often unproductive. Today's lesson taught me to reframe these thoughts into positive affirmations. Instead of focusing on what I don't want, I'm learning to focus on what I do want, like being in better shape. This simple flip in wording makes a significant difference in how I approach my goals. Vision Boards and Letters to the Future The course also introduced some creative tools to visualize an...
